In late December 2015, 16 proposed Cincinnati area projects were awarded about $11 million through the Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credits program, soapboxmedia.com reports. The largest award went to downtown’s Union Central Life Annex, which received $5 million in tax credits. Village Green will renovate the now-vacant 1928 building “into 294 market-rate apartments, a first-floor grocery store and a rooftop restaurant,” according to the article. Several Over-the-Rhine projects received awards, including the 1863 Kauffman Building that has been vacant since the 1990s; that project received a $249,999 tax credit for renovations including commercial space on the first floor and apartments above.
