Canton City Schools finalizes deal to lease land to Hall of Fame

The Canton City School District Board of Education voted unanimously to approve lease agreements with the Hall of Fame Village (for more on this, see our September 8, 2015 blog post), CantonRep.com reports. Superintendent Adrian Allison said the transaction “will protect Canton City Schools’ interests and permit development on the district’s property.” The 99-year leases for “Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, Don Scott Field, the high school parking lot and 5 acres north of the stadium along Blake Avenue NW” will net the school district $285,000 per year, with a 10 percent increase every 10 years. While construction is underway, the developer “will cover costs associated with the displacement of school activities, such as football games this year at Canton Central Catholic’s stadium,” according to the article. The deal includes “measures for Canton City Schools’ continued use of facilities and the Hall’s use during enshrinement festivities.” For more, read the full article
