Burton Village proposes JEDD for Berkshire Local School District’s new $41M campus

A public hearing at the Burton Village Council meeting sought input on “the proposed creation of a joint economic development district [JEDD] for Berkshire Local School District’s new $41 million campus” adjacent to Kent State University Geauga, Chagrin Valley Today reports. Grades in the two school locations currently in the village “will move to the new structure in Burton Township scheduled to be ready for the 2021-2022 school year,” according to the article. The JEDD would levy a 1-percent income tax rate “based on the income of persons working within the district and on the net profits of businesses located in the district.” For more, read the full article (subscription required).
