Plans for a hotel, events center, office building and parking garage in Dublin’s Bridge Park development have received preliminary approval from Dublin City Council, ThisWeek Community News reports. The Council approved the basic site plan and basic development plan for this phase of the development as well as “waivers concerning the height of the hotel and events center and the length of the parking garage.” The eight-story AC Hotel by Marriott “follows the arc of the curve around the roundabout being constructed at Riverside Drive and state Route 161” and will have a mostly glass front resembling water ripples. Brian Sell of Moody Nolan Architects said, “[w]e’re asking for a taller building because it cleverly masks all the mechanicals”; the hotel could also have a rooftop bar. Sell also said a “large space for public art is being planned on the side of the garage.” Russ Hunter of developer Crawford Hoying said the preliminary approval means work can begin, saying, “[w]e hope to be open by the Memorial Tournament in 2017, but we need to stay the course.”
