Chris Schmenk, counsel for Bricker & Eckler, recently led a joint economic development training session for board members from the Champaign Economic Partnership (CEP) (see our October 13, 2015 blog post for more on this), the Champaign County Chamber of Commerce and the West Central Ohio Port Authority, the Urbana Citizen reports. In the training session, Schmenk, former director of the Ohio Development Services Agency, highlighted how the groups can “work together to attract new business to the community and promote retention and growth of existing businesses.” In addition to covering the responsibilities of each organization, Schmenk also discussed how the county “can collaborate with Ohio’s economic development system — JobsOhio and the Ohio Development Services Agency — and the Dayton Development Coalition.” Marcia Baily, economic development director of the CEP, said, “[e]ach of our organizations has a distinctive role in building our local economy and creating jobs. By working together, we want to make the most of each of our strengths and maximize our effectiveness in helping existing businesses succeed and in recruiting new business to Champaign County.” For more, read the full article.
