Ardagh to invest $411M in Huron facility

Huron City Council members recently approved a 15-year tax abatement for Ardagh Group’s $411 million investment in a new manufacturing plant that will create 200 jobs, the Sandusky Register reports. The abatement “forgives 100% of all property taxes for new development” for 15 years, but the terms of the agreement include “making two impacted local school districts whole,” according to the article. Ardagh, a “global supplier of infinitely recyclable metal and glass packaging,” will make payments to Huron Schools and EHOVE Career Center “for the amount of taxes they would normally have received” without the abatement. The 200 jobs will “equate to roughly $16 million” in payroll. For more, read the full article.
