Internet retail giant Amazon is moving into Ohio in a big way; the company’s most recent announcement about its plans for the state revealed the locations for the two distribution centers it will build here: Obetz and Etna, The Columbus Dispatch reports. The two facilities “will bring more than 2,000 jobs to the region,” surpassing the earlier prediction of JobsOhio president John Minor (for more on this, see our June 1, 2015 blog post). Amazon’s vice president of North America operations, Mike Roth, said, “[w]e are very pleased to continue investing in Ohio by building our first fulfillment centers in the state. This investment will create thousands of jobs that will have comprehensive benefits on day one.” The state approved tax incentives for the distribution centers in July; the project is “the single biggest project in terms of the number of jobs to be approved for incentives by the Ohio Tax Credit Authority in at least the 10 years that the agency has been keeping records,” according to the article. Amazon has also “committed $1.1 billion to build three data centers in the region.”
