Amazon’s investment in Ohio continues to grow, as the company announced it will develop a wind farm in northwest Ohio to supply power to its data centers, including three the company plans to build in central Ohio, The Columbus Dispatch reports. The 100-megawatt wind farm, which will be located in Paulding County, “is to begin generating electricity in May 2017,” according to the article. It will be “the second-largest wind farm in the state,” after the nearby 300-megawatt Blue Creek Wind Farm in parts of Van Wert and Paulding counties. Amazon is working with EDP Renewables on the project; the wind farm was “initially proposed in 2009 and approved by state regulators soon afterward.” The project “has been stalled” while EDP has been looking for customers to purchase electricity from the wind farm. In addition to the previously announced data centers, Amazon also recently announced it will build two distribution centers in central Ohio, one in Obetz and one in Etna (for more on this, see our November 20, 2015 blog post).
