JobsOhio and several supporting agencies have released a strategy to market available sites along the Ohio River for development, the Portsmouth Daily Times reports. Local officials “are pleased with the strategy because it highlights the area,” according to the article. The strategy “is basically to provide as much info as possible on sites on the river,” including utilities, sewer, fiber optic, road and river access, and “try to quantify those sites which have those or a lot of those assets,” said Jason Kester, executive director of the Southern Ohio Port Authority (SOPA). The Appalachian Partnership for Economic Growth (APEG)’s website posted the strategy; according to APEG’s website, the Ohio River supports electric generation plants and “provides a major thoroughfare for transporting coal” as well as steel and other bulk materials.
