JobsOhio regional partners to receive nearly $15 million in funding.

A new job tax credit bill has been introduced in the Ohio House of Representatives to spur job creation for employees who primarily work from their home.

Utica Shale oil and gas drilling in Ohio is anticipated to create an estimated 200,000 new jobs and $1.6 billion in royalty payments for landowners, businesses and schools over the next five years. 

This past week, economic developers from across the globe gathered at the International Economic Development Council’s (IEDC) Annual Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The State of Ohio announced it will immediately cancel three of its 11 contracts with foreign trade offices and evaluate the remaining contracts for their return on investment.  The state will end business relationships with South Africa, Chile and Brazil by October 31.

Gov. John Kasich appointed Lawrence J. Kidd to the ninth and final position on the JobsOhio board today. As reported in the Columbus Dispatch, Kidd is from Jackson County, serving as the only board member from Ohio’s Appalachian region. He is the president and chief executive officer of Reliable Staffing Services and RSS Professional, LLC.

David Mustine was named as general manager for JobsOhio — focused on the energy sector, according to an announcement made by Chief Investment Officer Mark Kvamme.

Mark Kvamme, Chief Investment Officer for Ohio's new economic development organization revealed that JobsOhio was setting aside the highly touted plan to use JobsOhio dollars to make equity investments directly in growing businesses to retain them in the state.
