The National Association of Development Organizations has recognized the Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission (OVRDC) with a 2016 Innovation Award, the Chillicothe Gazette reports. The OVRDC collaborated with the Jackson County Economic Development Board “to study and identify possible sites for a 200- to 300-acre industrial property” within the county. That study “used geographic information systems and data analysis to identify contiguous land parcels that have the possibility of being zoned and developed for industrial uses” using criteria including utility availability and floodways, among others, according to the article. The awards program “recognizes regional development organizations and their partners for improving the economic and community competitiveness of regional and local communities.” For more, read the full article.
